Profile:
The IWC Portugieser Chronograph is a timless classic. I have owned this watch since 2007 and to this day it gets more compliments than almost any of the watches I own. This model is the 3714, which was introduced in 1998 and with a height of 12.6mm, the case is pleasantly thin for an automatic chronograph. Whilst not especially compact on paper - 47mm lug to lug - the shape of the case is comfortable and incredibly well balanced, even on smaller wrists like mine.
The watch was purchased new from a jeweler in Bond Street, London and more than a decade later, remains one of my favorite timepieces.
